Imagine the ruler of an ancient sunken city, wearing a collar of deep blues and greys that feel pulled from the ocean’s darkest places. The colors suggest cold water, stone, shadow, and the quiet mystery of a world far below the surface.
Dumortierite was first found in the Rhône-Alps of France and named for French paleontologist Eugène Dumortier; it is also used in making high-grade porcelain.
Lapis has been prized since antiquity for its rich blue color and has long been used in ancient artifacts and jewelry.
